| Workshop + School Design: data collection & analysis + Everyone |
| Quite often lost from all the current national conversation regarding standardized testing and "holding schools accountable" is the notion of using assessment to support student understanding and guide instructional practice. The "four level" cyclical accountability systems under development across schools in the Southern Maine Partnership work to meet this educational need. The cycle of inquiry used in these systems enable each school to better understand the learning of their students (collectively and individually) and the impact of classroom practice, school design, leadership, and community connections on this learning. Using this information, the school is better able to tailor instructional practices to the common and unique needs of each student. |
