| Workshop + Classroom Practice: classroom culture + Elementary School |
| How realistic is schooling on a human scale in a standards-based society? This highly participatory workshop will integrate strategies that are used to incorporate literature, the arts and multiple intelligences in a multi-age elementary classroom to build community and personalize teaching and learning. Participants will be introduced to the educational philosophy of multi-age classrooms, which embrace the belief that children need a place to grow and learn in an environment that is conducive to interaction through discovery. Children need a place to learn where diversity is honored and celebrated and depth of learning is valued over breadth of learning. Come experience strategies and activities to involve all in the process of learning! |
